How long do you keep files?

We automatically delete your files 1 hour after conversion completes. No backups are created. Once deleted, files are unrecoverable by design.

Current Retention Policy

All files are automatically deleted 1 hour after job completion, regardless of your plan tier. This applies to everyone—Free, Pro and Business—forever. This is by design, not a limitation.

How Auto-Delete Works

Automated cleanup services run periodically to delete expired jobs. Deletion happens shortly after the 1 hour window expires. Job records remain for analytics, but file contents are permanently deleted.

⚠️ Download Promptly

If you do not download your converted files within 1 hour, they are permanently lost. We cannot recover them. The UI shows a countdown timer for each batch.

What Gets Deleted?

Deleted after 1 hour: Original uploaded files, converted output files, and temporary processing artifacts.

Retained: Minimal job metadata (file size, format, timestamp) for analytics and billing. No file contents or filenames. See What metadata do you keep? for details.

Manual Deletion

Every single converter has a "Delete Files and Clear Queue" button which will completely and securely remove your files from our servers before the 1 hour auto-delete window expires.

Get in the habit of using this after downloading your files! While auto-delete guarantees cleanup, manual deletion gives you immediate control and peace of mind.

Why Not Offer Extended Retention for Paid Tiers?

Because it goes against our core mission. Our job is to get you in and out within minutes with all your files processed so you can move on to more important things. If your workflow requires files to stay on our servers for hours or days, we have done something wrong and failed in our mission.

1 hour is generous for a service designed around speed. Most users download within seconds or minutes. The retention window exists for flexibility, not as a storage locker.

Compliance

Our retention policy supports GDPR compliance through data minimization, storage limitation, and privacy by design. Files self-destruct automatically—no manual erasure request needed.

No Backups Policy

We do not create backups of your uploaded or converted files. This is a deliberate privacy decision. Files exist only during the retention window. No tape backups, no snapshots, no historical archives. This reduces attack surface—backup leaks cannot happen.

✅ Privacy-First Design Enables Scale

Our 1-hour auto-delete policy isn't a limitation—it's what enables us to process massive workloads:

  • Up to 10 GB per batch (40 GB for RAW photos)
  • Up to 1,000 files in a single upload
  • Fast in, fast out—minimal server time by design
  • No long-term storage risk
  • No backup leaks (backups don't contain files)
  • Compliance with "right to be forgotten" by default

Quick data turnover means capacity for large workloads. Privacy and performance are complementary—minimal storage windows mean minimal exposure windows and maximum throughput.
